My writing spans criticism, fiction, essays, & beyond. I’m currently working on a novel & other fiction, and write a blog and a newsletter about living an examined life. I'm an editor at large at The Chicago Review of Books, where I write primarily about works in translation and literary fiction. There, I write a column called The Translator's Voice, where I interview translators about bringing works into English. I previously wrote about Japanese language learning at Tofugu.
My photography is primarily in street photography, though I am always looking to push myself in the medium.
I pride myself on the depth of my interests and curiosity, and enjoy reading, journaling, studying Japanese, running, and practicing fighting games in my free time.
Thank you for checking out my work, and get in contact here.
